The home, which is located at 3159 West 11th Street in Cleveland’s Tremont neighborhood, was officially placed on the market early Monday morning. This is the house used in the filming of A Christmas Story in 1983.

Located across West 11th Street from A Christmas Story House, this 1906-built neighborhood tavern, at 1104 Rowley Ave., was a favorite with cast members. Stories abound about how "The Old Man" (Darren McGavin) used to shut down the Rowley at night, then go back to his trailer for a nightcap, finally ending up sharing breakfast while he would listen to the actor recite his lines. Sadly, they no longer serve their Old Man’s or Bumpus Hounds turkey dinner or pizza, but they do give 10 percent off the bill for those with ACS House tickets.
After exploring the inside of the house, you’ll go out into the backyard for a bit, too, before being directed over the the museum. I love all the little details sprinkled throughout the house, from the Lifebuoy soap in the bathroom to Ralphie’s letter to Santa on his desk in the bedroom. Nowhere is Bob Clark’s holiday film starring Peter Billingsley, Darren McGavin and Melinda Dillon more celebrated than in Cleveland, where much of the movie was filmed. There is even a museum devoted to the singular movie directly across the street. Higbee’s department store, located at the time in downtown Cleveland, also found a place in the film due to its vintage appearance. Shots of the elementary school were filmed on location in Ontario, along with the Chinese restaurant scene near the end of the film. This means the 1983 holiday classic has become as much a part of our city as pierogies and craft beer.
